“Jason, I just wanted to thank you for providing me with the tools and knowledge to start my own business.

I had the best time and made some life long friends.

The techniques and procedures that you teach are at the top of the game!”

Swamp Donkey Taxidermy

Central Texas School of Taxidermy is owned and operated by Kelly Leifeste. Kelly Leifeste is a Certified Taxidermist and Director/Instructor.

He has been active in the art of taxidermy since 1978 and has a bachelor’s degree in business from Southwest Texas State University. The school was established in 1988 by Kelly to better educate future taxidermists.

Jason Bynum is a 1997 graduate from the Central Texas School of Taxidermy.  He participated in Kelly’s 6 week long program in the fall of that year.  Upon finishing the school he began his own business, Bull Creek Taxidermy at his home in Snyder, TX.

Since 1997 Jason’s business has grown and prospered.  He is currently in his third location and boasts one of the largest taxidermy shops in West Texas. His 7500 sq. ft. shop includes an impressive 2000 sq. ft. showroom which was added on in 2007.  His growing business, which began as a one man show, now includes 7 full time employees.  Jason has done taxidermy work for people all over the United States and his customer base includes such famous people as Country and Western singer John Michael Montgomery, George Strait, and Major League baseball players Gabe White and Randy Valarde.

Africa

Jason’s career in the taxidermy industry has taken him places he never thought he would go.  Not only has he excelled in a career he is passionate about, but he has been able to travel around the world thanks to the connections he has made in the hunting industry.  In 2005 he traveled to Alberta, Canada on a wolf hunt, and in the summer of 2007 he journeyed to South Africa on a 10 day safari.  This was not only a life changing experience, but allowed him to see the animals he recreates for his customers in their natural habitat to allow for more realistic mounts. In 2009, Jason sold Bull Creek Taxidermy to devote all his time and energy into running Central Texas School of Taxidermy.

The success of Jason and Bull Creek Taxidermy would never have been possible without the instruction and support of Kelly Leifeste and the Central Texas School of Taxidermy.  Here he was given the know how and beginning steps to make a successful business.  That is why Jason is now teaming up with Kelly to help others reach their potential and engage in a life long career in taxidermy.  Jason not only believes it can happen, but is living proof of the fact that the Central Texas School of Taxidermy can make dreams come true.
